TSHolden.com - History Choose which set of newsposts you want: the first 50, the second 50, the third 50, the fourth 50, the fifth 50, or the sixth 50. Normal update, as promised: a new digital art piece, one that I made for class and then web-fitted. Sorta like retro-fitting but not as cool (loads cheaper though). Not much else to say, I'm a bit under the weather, and I have lots of work lined up for this weekend. Watched some good anime recently. ... Yeah, that's it. See you guys Monday. Today's update is going to be incremental, which is to say that I will be sticking little updates in whenever I can, but nothing large. However, while I'm here, I owe an explaination to you guys: here's the rundown of what's happened in the past few weeks. 1. I fell and busted my lip. I hadn't eaten enough and my blood wasn't up to me standing up from a crouch: I pitched forward and stopped myself with my teeth. Through my bottom lip. I had to get 22 stitches, and the docs recommended I spend some time with my folks. 2. I recover pretty well, but my former roommates decide that they don't want me in the apartment anymore. Versions differ, and I was already planning to leave at the end of January, but somehow being told that I wasn't wanted anymore was... you know. So my move to my parents became semi-permanent. 3. Because I was out of the apartment, Loki could not stay in operation. I assumed that I could get him working at my family's house: I was straight-out wrong. I can't even get a simple router (that I know works elsewhere) to work here. Maybe we're on a silicon burial ground or something. 4. It took me two weeks, but after all that wrestling, I finally broke down and bought hosting for the site from Namesecure. It's temporary (I hope), but right now it's keeping me pretty happy. Hopefully Loki will be back and better than ever in a few months. 5. Finally, I had the Guilford Con last weekend. It went well, I really enjoyed being on the Tech panel: next year I'll be sure to be more prepared so that I can do a better job of pointing people in the right direction. All I really did this year was pimp Notepad+ and Gimp. Maybe I'll do a panel next year on Sauer Mapping as well. See you guys on Friday with a normal-ish update! Uugh. It took an unbelievable amount of time to get the site back up, and I'm sorry. I've got a con to go to this weekend (the WTH Con in Guilford), so I can't do much to sort things out right now, so sortage will have to come on Monday. Nothing will get added per se, but I will explain what's been up. No update today folks: there's going to be some hardware shenanigans tonight and possibly tomorrow on Loki. This will probably end up changing the IP address, so be prepared to change your bookmarks. However, there should be a very interesting blog entry coming up soon. I had some very unusual events happen to me recently. Today's update is a sketch that kinda falls back to my old joy of drawing cut monsters. Hope everyone likes it. In other news: sleep is good. I pledge myself to its service. :P Seriously though, I suspect I'm coming down with something, I can't seem to get enough sleep nowadays. What an exhausting week, for all the wrong reasons. =P Oh well, I have work today, so I should refrain from whining, otherwise I'll be up all night. While today's update is kinda more of the same (digital art), but at the same time, it's someting a bit different. Check it out. School starts again today, (yay college) so I'll keep it simple. Here 'tis. I apologize for the lateness of today's update. I had to go to work once I woke up, and then eat with the Fam. But now I'm back home, so here we go. Most of yesterday was spent debugging a map I made for Sauerbraten. All it really amounts to is a simple Portal-based map that tries to achieve the same basic premise of Portal without actually modifying anything but your keybindings. Here's a bit more detail. The previous update just didn't cover things, so I made a new rant going into better detail. Perhaps I'll make another rant to cover some other interesting details as well. I've got jury duty this week, so if you find any bugs in the site left over from last weekend, please tell me, but I probably won't be able to get to them immediately. Jury duty might also cut into the quality of the next update, we'll see. Ha! Update! More to say later! Edit: Ok, some interesting things are going to happen this weekend. Specifically, I am going to erase some pages, for the first time in the site's history. I feel that some pages have outlived their usefulness, and they're going to go. This includes: -The RLT test archive (complete erasure) -4drn's section (probably to a new location: if I can link to it I will on monday). -Dark Sages fanfic (complete erasure). -The schedules, old schedules, and the wishlists (complete erasure) Also, this page is getting retitled to index.php! Please update your links! So much for a Friday update. I emphatically apologize for the downtime durning the last few days- as best I can figure, one of my roommates managed to restart Loki while I was away. Because I only had internet access for about thirty minutes on Friday, I was totally unaware of the problem until then, and getting it fixed was difficult (but I was able to orally walk 4drn thru how to get it going without much trouble, so that went well). So, not in the best of moods right now, and I apologize for the whole fiasco. I have uploaded a heavily revised version of Chapter 4 of Sergis Undead as today's update, along with a number of subtler revisions that will help transition the site into 2008. This time I promise to see you on Friday, regardless of outside events. Merry Christmas, to all that celebrate it. I have a rather unusual update, given the time of year: this is an present for my brother though, so hopefully that makes it make sense. I hope to get a normal update done on Friday, but I'm gonna be out of town, so no promises. Again, Merry Christmas! I should have mentioned this earlier, but monday's update will not go up until Christmas day (probably nearish 1 in the morning). See you then! Got a lot of work done on EITS yesterday. I didn't do much of anything else productive, but I've gotten a ton of expressions premade for Sunnindi. To see a sampling, go here. A rant today, about a topic on many's mind: snow! I'm not trying to be seasonal or anything (well, I might be), but it seemed relevant when I started typing. Not much else to say. I need to cook up something special for Christmas day, I'd welcome any reasonable suggestions. Ta da! We are now one year old! *Shine shine* Ok, to be honest, it's not that big a deal, but still, let me have my moment. Ok, I done. Now, to hit you with irony: here's some filler material! I decided not to do what I was originally planning, mostly due to technical reasons, but also just because I wasn't satisfied with it. So, instead, you get this sketch. Hehe, I'm evil. It took until today for me to realize that Friday is the site's birthday, not today. Shows how distracted I am. But I said there'd be an update today, and there will be. Here is a guest comic I made for the excellent comic Vampirates. Hopefully Jones will find it up to par and be able to use it. :) Blarg, early morning update, in the raw. It's like the online equivalent of seeing me, groggy and unshaven, before I get any coffee in me. Anyhow, the update is a sketch, because Nashaii pointed out that it's been over a month. I have reluctantly titled this piece Donut and have not cleaned it up yet, so be warned- photoshopping will have to come after my exams today and tomorrow. Because the 14th is the sites birthday, I will be updating a day early with... something. So I'll see you all on Thursday. Ok, here's the update. I'll see everyone on monday, I hope. Ahh, feels good to make a Wednesday update again. It has been far too long. As promised, here is a sequel to the Monday update. As you can tell, pretty low-effort stuff for me... check plus! I can definately use some easy stuff. Now I must go cram for my physics exam, which is on Friday morning... so expect Friday's update to be in the afternoon/evening. Sorry about the lateness, I had to meet with a teacher to see if I was exempt from the final. I am, 'tis awesome. Today's update is very simple, but the advantage of that is that I will be able to do a Wednesday update this week! w00t! So come back on Wednesday and listen to me talk about how great Reading Day is. Edit: oh yeah, here's the update. I'm not going to lie, it's been a crappy month for me; socially, academically, financially, and websitely have all suffered this month. It may be fitting that today's update, until I can work up a better one this evening, is a brand new 404 error page... that isn't currently functioning as a 404 page. I still need to figure that out. EDIT: No extra update. I spent all evening getting my car back from a towing company... cost me $100 X( Decided to try something a bit different today. I figure if I start mixing my classwork with my sitework I can increase the quality of both. Anyhow, take a look at it here and tell me what you think. The update is here. Before you ask, yes, it is very literal. God this sucks. Sorry about the downtime, everyone who actually saw it. I was hoping to spend today making a surprise update- instead I spent all day fighting to reinstall Ubuntu server edition. *Sigh*. I suppose I came out of this a bit wiser and more knowledgable, but still, it's a whole day wasted. I seem to be losing a lot of my days recently. Everybody have a good Turkey Day tomorrow, ok? I'll be working hard at appearing to be happier than I am... it's hard to be greatful in times like this. Update is here... and I have a couple of big projects due before thanksgiving break, so I'm gonna have to add to this later (again...). Well, I ended up spending so much time on bringing the beach photos up to speed that I neglected to prepare for today's update. The image is up, (clicky) but I haven't had time to flesh out the page for it yet. Check back later. What do you know, I do have a real update for today. Aside from working out some unexpected bugs and doing some general cleaning around the site, I have successfully gotten some pictures from my last hiking trip from the talented Paul. If he ever gets a website I shall have to link him up. Anyhow, WT Fall Event 3 pictures are up and going. They're nicely high-res, and I hope to make that true for the other photo galleries on this site soon. Monday's update has been postponed to Wednesday evening. If you're curious why, look at the site address- I moved to the Loki server and spent all weekend cleaning things up and spellchecking old pages. There are a few more adjustments to be made- the splash page will probably go away and this page will quite likely be renamed, for example. I'll also try to get the cool stuff like a custom 404 page and all up, and a DNS server. So Wednesday's update will probably be just as techy as today's and I apologize for both. So today's update is up, entitled Sunnindi Expressions. It represents a lot of redesigning, so please give it a look! In other news, I have successfully made my first webserver, named Loki. I will test it out a little longer, but probably bring it online sometime soon. Exciting times. Still focusing on the digital section, though today's update is unique in a couple of ways. I recommend checking it out. Got some great progress done this weekend on EITS. My homework, not so much. So tired of physics by now. By the way, I'm going to let the tentusonline.com domain expire. I'm just too poor to keep it, and I want to move more towards the tsholden.com domain. The digital section has been getting a lot of love recently, I'll try and do something different on monday (no promises). I've been looking into a weird problem with my scanner, hope to have it fixed soon. Today's update wasn't even made on my computer. In other news, I've been playing the online game Space Hamsters recently, it's fairly fun. Very beta right now, and the art is pretty bad, but it's still fun to play. Sorry about the lateness of this update, I'm pretty sick (actively missing a class right now, actually). Today's update is pretty rushed, I'll have to improve it later. I've got homework to do first though. Link. I did some site testing in Linux, including browsing the site in Lynx. Interesting stuff. I'll see what I can do about making the site more accessible to those trying to browse the site without images. In the meantime, I have to research UPS for online businesses (for my new job). 'Morning. I could be taking a shower right now, but I am so dedicated that... actually no, I just prefer this over taking a shower. So anyhow, here's the update. It's a prespress project I finished this week, hope everyone likes it. In other news, I've hit a nasty stag with the eye designs, hope to sort it out this weekend so I can show what I've done on monday. Later! Last weekend was great, except for one hitch at the end that singlehandedly destroyed my good mood. Bleh. This led to great anger, which led to this update. In other news... um... I haven't got any other news right now. I'm looking for a better way to blog, and eye progress is soming along, I may have found one I can work with. Not much to say other than I'm late for my bus. Update is here! EDIT: the update is up, which should explain why today's planned update wasn't ready to be published. Hope to have that ready by Friday. Nothing more to say, except that this week is gonna be unpleasantly difficult. :P Well, last night was my last night at the Lowes Food deli. I'm moving on. Ironically enough, my last customer was Lawrence Kovalcin... a kid I went to high school with, and now have a history class with. Today's update is called Stop him, a quick bit of sillyness. That's about it for today (did everyone notice the rebranding of the site earlier this week?), so now I gotta drive with 4drn across the state. As usual, I am very sorry that this update is so late, but last weekend was kinda cruel to me. More on that later, perhaps in the blog. Today's update is a possible new logo for me, in a rough business card concept. If you ever meet me in person you may get something quite similar handed to you. I noticed that my little Statcounter topped 1000 this week, so in the grand tradition established by DA, I've put up a 1000 visitors piece! It's a cute little piece, I hope everyone likes it. If you're the kind of person who likes to know what's going on in my life, check out the blog, something very exciting has happened. I hate it when I make updates that no-one can notice but me. What you're not seeing right now is a massive revision to how every layout table in the site works. Now the edges of each "page" are handled in CSS, which means that I had to edit all 150+ html pages that make up this site. Gah! But this'll shave off a tiny bit of load time and it's been a great way to re-standardize my pages. (Despite what people say, you do need to go through you site about once a year and get everything back on track. I was almost due). Because it took me the better part of six or more hours to write, apply, and debug the code, the update today is by Nashaii. It's a thought-provoking short work, entitled Kristallnacht. BTW, where did September go? So tired. I'm getting sick fast, but I have work all weekend, so send me chocolate. I demand a tribute! ... Serious now, I'm hurtin'. So today's update, rather than a horrendously large Flash tutorial I've been working on, you're getting a picture 4drn cosplaying Chi. Finally, a decent update time! This actually would have been much sooner, but our internet was down (to our great frustration). Today's update is in the same line as last Saturday's update, though today is the original Piggy from 4drn's collection. Now it is time to find out if I failed my physics test. Well poop. So much for friday, I got off work really late and then sleep was needed. Today's update is a piece of art titled Toasty, it's pretty nice. Next week should be much more on schedule, I hope. If I have trouble with it again I'll look into alternate update schedules. Tonight's update is a widescreen background drawn from the next EITS. Think of it as a sneak preview. In other site news, I did some rehauling in the rants section, Nashaii's section, and other related areas to unify the supporting javascripts into a single file. It's a much smarter bit of web design now. While I'm thinking about it, I'm sorry about not posting to the blog very often. With last weekend being as hellish as it was and our internet at home always being down (no exaggeration), blogging is simply not something I can get to very often. Once we buy a seperate internet service I promise to blog more. EDIT: Just so everyone's clear, putting this up this late will mean that Friday's update will also be latish. I'm hoping by midnight of friday. Monday's update will be uploaded on Wednesday afternoon, I have not had time to work on it all weekend and will not have time to work on it today or tomorrow. Couldn't quite finish EITS 4, because of a really stupid artistic decision on my part, so instead we have a piece of logowork I've been doing in my Electronic Prepress class. It's not the version that will someday get used, but it's gotten some good reactions. I have also made significant progress on redoing the historic newsposts and I've even updated the rant to reflect the new way of updating. Aren't I on top of things? As promised, here is a new piece of writing from Nashaii, Sergis Undead, Chapter 4. It feels good to do a wednesday update again. Thanks to everyone who has sent me well-wishes in the past few days, it feels great to know that people care enough to take a bit of their time to congratulate me (two decades... I'm getting old XD ). I've decided to try and recode only one or two newsposts every time I update the site. Little buggers take a surprising amount of work to convert over. Maybe I'll write a batch file to help me out... 4drn decided to give me my birthday present early, so I spent all of this evening playing Final Fantasy III for the DS. Good times, but it means tomorrow will porbably suck. (For those who didn't know, my birthday is on Tuesday the 11th). I decided to put up another edit, because I made one on saturday that I really like. I try not to put up stuff that takes this little effort usually, but I like this one too much. And just a heads up, I'll be doing a Wednesday update this week, thanks to Nashaii's hard work. Choose which set of newsposts you want: the first 50, the second 50, the third 50, the fourth 50, the fifth 50, or the sixth 50. |
