TSHolden.com - History Choose which set of newsposts you want: the first 50, the second 50, the third 50, the fourth 50, the fifth 50, or the sixth 50. So by the time I realized that Wednesday's newspost hadn't uploaded correctly, it was Thursday, so I decided to just call wait until today. Wednesday's update was boring anyway, mostly just me messing around with sitemaps, fixing broken bits, trying to upgrade the site backend. Anyhow, for today I have another Kerberos chapter for you guys. I've decided to truncate half this chapter off for now, I'm getting some feedback on Kerberos later today, and I want to be sure that the second half of this chapter fits in the grand plan. The full thing should be up late tonight. Media comment: I'm playing my way through Okami again, and I can't even begin to tell you how amazingly-well done this game is. I pray to every 'kami I can think of that they make a sequel. I let the birthday of my own site slip up on me, yikes. Last year I did a mass update to all the images: that's just not possible this year, because I'm still neck-deep in exams (have one in just a couple of hours, actually). So for today I've put up a simple image, barely more than an edit, thanking you guys for the very enjoyable last two years. On to the third! Media comment: somehow I managed to watch Genshiken Season two first, and only later found out. Explains a lot of stuff, I thought the series was overly abrupt. :/ Anyhow, season one is even more enjoyable than season two, and makes season two make much more sense. Fantastic all the way around (though the art quality in season one did have a few noticable dips, weird). New Kerberos Chapter today, hope you all like it. I'm surprised with how slowly the story is flowing, I thought I'd be a lot further along at this point. I guess that's the drawback of breaking everything into such small chunks. Media comment: Kannagi didn't seem like an anime that I'd like at first, but the homo-to-pimp storyline was hilarious. I've got a bad case of end-of-semester sickness (you know, when all that ill you've been bottling up for the past few weeks, aggravated by accumulated stress, finally comes out with a fury?), so no edit today. Sorry, I don't usually let myself get this bad. Today's update is mostly for the benefit of a school assignment, and for that I'm sorry. However, it has been pointed out to me multiple times that it could be beneficial to have my resume online (PDF, 391 kb). Media comment: if you liked the first part of Bleach, before they went off to Soul Society, then Kekkaishi is for you. I'm quite enjoying it, the main character is adorable. 'Bout time for a new rant, I'd say. This one is actually a Flash Rant, and shows quick solutions to the Winter levels of the great game "Auditorium". On a mostly irrelevant note, I've noticed that recently I've been changing my mind a lot. As in, I'll work on an update the day before, but when I wake up on the upload day, I'll decide to do something else. It's pretty stupid, it makes all my updates very rushed and hurts the quality. Today's update is kinda lame, but this type of thing is necessary every once and a while. In a nutshell, I'm now actively looking for a lineartist, because the guy I was working with is simply too busy to do the job. Also, you might notice that this update is in a new folder. I'm going to try to migrate the existing Sandstorm Conscience stuff over to there (what little there is) and put future SC stuff there too, in the interests of separation and clarity. Media comment: Watched H20: Footprints in the Sand yesterday. All of it. It was ok, but the ending was confusing and took some deciphering. Also, the main character was ridiculously passive in the first few episodes, it was very frustrating. Well, it took me forever, but I've finally resumed the slow-motion train wreck that is The Wake of Kerberos. It's hard to stick to projects like this, keeping you interest up is just difficult. In other news, I quite liked Genshiken, but I felt that the series lost something when half the cast graduated. They were still around but the series didn't feel quite as fun. Maybe because I relate so much to the ones that graduated before they graduated, and some of that common ground was lost when they weren't in college any more. Whoops, forgot about Thxmas interfering with my update schedule. Uhm... well, to be honest, my internet is extremely limited, so let's just concede that I won't be able to get my update online on Friday. Today's update, however, is a cumulative update on how I update this site. There have been some changes in the past few months, so it was high time I made this update. I've had an unexpectedly terrible 24 hours, so today's update is kinda cheesy (on the outside). Now I've got to go write a paper about Eisenhower. I'm quite pleased with how this update came out. It's not very often that you get a project that requires both precision (yay vectors!) and grit (yay patterns!). In other news, LostWinds was fantastic... while it lasted. :( I beat the whole thing in 2:15, and even got 19 of the statues. I sincerely hope the next one is a bit longer lived (multiplayer ftw?). Ok, here's today's update: a somewhat cleaned up and improved Zelda map. The textures have been replaced and the code running the system rehauled, so as to allow some new features. Enjoy! Here, have a Demotivator. :) Demotivators are fun to make. Man, I finished Amatsuki this weekend and it made me sad. Why can't the really good series be 150 episodes long? New rant is up, and Amatsuki is awesome. It's been a while since I uploaded a doodle, so here's one if you have a sec. Nothing much to it, but it's better than I could have done two years ago. I finished Paper Mario the other day, after having to stop near the end a long time ago. It took me a bit to remember what all the party members did and everything, but a few minutes I was having a blast. Nintendo certainly knows how to make charming games. A new fractal approaches! And that's about all I've got as far as site news. Some of you might recognize my Current Media for today. (Those who don't might want to check it out). What is it about extremely girly animes that's so fun? It's weird, they don't jibe with my personality at all, but I still love to watch them. Extra early update, because I have a paper due this afternoon that I haven't started. =P It's not a terribly pretty update, but it's not terrible either. I kinda like it. In other news... dang I want to get a PS3 and LittleBigPlanet. But I don't get enough work to make that happen. *sad face* Also, Mirror's Edge looks pretty awesome. Yup. Today's content update is a revision of that Feywinds fanart I did recently. I'm still rather unhappy with what's come out, but sometimes you've just gotta throw in the towel. Here's today's update, now I must run to jury duty! Edit: Ok, more info available now. In other news, please go vote tomorrow if you can. And with that, I'll see you guys on Wednesday. Rather than doing a Halloween themed update today, I eventually settled on making good on an idea I had months and months ago. Today I started a gallery of cloud photos for you guys to use however you wish. :) Have a good holiday! (If you get one, I certainly don't get the day off...) In light of recent additions to the photo gallery, I decided that it would be a good idea for me to go through and add comments to pages that have been lacking in comments. So, today might be a good day to browse the gallery again. Or, you know, not, whatever floats your boat. So, has everyone figured out their costumes for Halloween yet? I still need to, if I'm going to do it at all. :( Not decided yet. Today's update is a small bit of fan art for Fey Winds, a webcomic I really enjoy. Not much else to say, other than please go vote if you're a US citizen. Mary Recently I've had unusually much spare time, which worries me, because it means I'm going to get slammed later. It also means I've been tearing my way through anime shows recently. *sigh* I miss Spice and Wolf already. Today's update to old content is a redo of the Vampirates animation I made some time ago. I was able to spice up the animation and add in a background without adding any filesize (I actually cut the filesize down by a few k), but it comes at the cost of many more layers. I also remembered to embed my fonts in this one, the previous one was system-dependant. Other news... not much. I've got Ringo Hiyori (the ending song to Spice and Wolf) stuck in my head. Catchy little tune. At long last, the ninth chapter of Kerberos is up. Sorry it took so long, but for some reason I didn't like how the writing was coming. Still don't like it really, but I decided that this was getting ridiculous and I should go ahead and put something up. Just a reminder, the site has been completely switched to PHP, and I've migrated a lot of stuff from javascript to php includes. I've probably introduced a bunch of errors somewhere, so if you see them, please let me know. Today's update is a somewhat silly little photoshop that takes a humorous (but still true!) look at my kitchen table. Sorry about posting this so late, but I missed the bus twice on the way to the office (damn you rainy weather!). Also, I have spent a portion of today setting up some htaccess stuff and doig regular expressions so that I can switch over to PHP without breaking my old html links. Still, best to switch your bookmarks from .html to .php. :) Also, if you spot any errors where my regular expressions were overzealous, please please tell me. Today's update is exceptionally subtle, but echoes across the entire site. Yoou see, today I made some very minor changes to the Nordic Alchemy image, which means that every page on the site is slightly altered. Today also marks the beginning of my 4 day fall break (Thur-Sun). This really doesn't affect me very much, but I hope everyone else on break enjoys their time off. Ok, the Runic page has been updated with new screenshots. Not a lot of change in the map itself, but this should give you a much fuller idea of what's going on. In other news, I have finished the draft for my research paper (yay!) and now have to deal with all the other junk that's been getting neglected because of it. For example, a camping trip this weekend. This means that I'm sorry, but there will be no update on Monday, too much else to do once I get back. See you guys on Wednesday! I find myself in a bit of a bind today. On the one hand, I have been thinking for some time that the site needs some reorganization in order to accommodate the increasing focus on games, from Eisenstern to Kerberos. On the other, I don't want to start such a system without being sure that it'll work, because I'm very dead-link aware. So, as a temporary compromise, I'm not going to actually make a page for today, but instead link to the directory directly and let you guys figure out the rest for now. Here's today's update, sorry that it's so lame. I spent quite a lot of time on it yesterday between working on my research paper, but nothing that makes for a very exciting update. I'll try to get some more work done on it this evening and tomorrow so that I can make it cooler on Wednesday. In other news, school is kicking it up a notch this week, which is bad, because I have Wilderness Trail next weekend, meaning that all my projects and papers have to get done within the week. Sigh. As promised. =D So, even though I said I'd edit last week's sketch up to par, I'm going to delay that to Friday in favor of this little edit. This was quite a fun piece, very spur of the moment, and it took some discipline to not put it up right away. In other news, I broke my camera, and am very upset about it. I actually earn quite a lot of my income through that camera, so I need to get it fixed or replaced ASAP. :( Whoops, forgot about having jury duty today, so that's why the update is colorless. :( Anyhow, here is today's update, another sketch to try and fill out my most popular section. (?) In other news, I have been doing some playing around with PHP on this server, and may switch some stuff over. The only problem is that it'll create dead links, which I am adamantly against. Today's update, Seriously?, is a pun on my current situation. I've put it in the Sketches section because I have plans to color it next Wednesday. Now I must go move myself to my new house. Hopefully see you guys Monday! Today's update is a comprehensive enhancement of my Eclipse flash game, making it all around better. The only problem is that I have uncovered a nasty problem in flash, and have spent the last hour fruitlessly trying to make a workaround. :( By the way, I'm moving houses on Friday, so the update might be a bit lame. We'll see. And you thought I was creepy before. In light of Monday's Questionable Content-themed update, I figure it'd be a good ida to dedicate today's content update to the QC Banners I made a while ago. I went ahead and ran out some new ones, and now I'm thinking about maybe making some flashier ones. Thoughts? I'm a bit confused by the new animation panel, I need to learn it... Not much else to tell. Staying kinda bummed about a few personal matters, but nothing that should affect the site. See you guys Friday! Not much else to tell. Staying kinda bummed about a few personal matters, but nothing that should affect the site. See you guys Friday! Early update because I don't want to be distracted in class like I usually am. Also because it's pretty dang cool. Yep. Final Fantasy IV has to be one of the most polished games I've ever play. The people at Squenix know their stuff, it is one heck of a game. Also, Nashaii and I rewatched V for Vendetta... I had forgotten how good the art direction in that movie was. This chapter has not been proofed yet, so apologies for that, but I'm really sick and need to get home. No, it's not from partying last night on my birthday: I ended up having to stay up late and debug my Java homework. :P See you guys on Monday. Ugh. It's been a bad few days, so I don't have much to day. Enjoy the improved Battle Engine, and all that. Hopefully I'll be able to create a graphical version 2 someday soon. In other news, my birthday is tomorrow. Whoo? Today's update is a quick piece of digital art, entitled Appal(). It's not that cool, but it works for me- better than missing an update. It was a long weekend, I spent a lot of time working with Nashaii on the Kerberos Battle Engine. Just so everyone knows ahead of time, Wednesday's update will be the cumulative update to the Battle Engine. I don't necessarily like updating something that was put up so recently, but I think that the amount of work that has gone into it is justificiation. Besides, I am adding a tone of cool features. Time for another flash game. This time it's a text-based game that puts you into the shoes of Alex, Chase, and Mallory as they battle the Print that was mentioned at the end of the most recent chapter. Neat, huh? Don't expect too much out of it, it's deliberately ghetto in some places. But I will try to make some additions and refinements to it as time goes on, I really enjoyed throwing it together last night and this morning. What's this, a Wednesday update? Yes, dear readers, I'm going to try to update on Wednesdays again too. Now, I'm not going to try and do full updates: no, I don't have more time on my hands or anything, this increase is a reflection of the fact that I've gotten faster at photoshop. Instead, what I'm going to do is put up improved versions of old pictures, maybe update some rants or other writings, or put up a doodle. So, today I've color an image that has been in the queue for a year. Oops. So, enjoy! Another Monday, another month, another chapter of Kerberos. Not much else to say, I beat X (Auron one-hit the final boss), am playing XII now. Managed to clock 13 hours since Saturday afternoon, if that gives you an idea how much I enjoy the game. Oh, some of you might like this. I have a class with the author of Rice Boy, which is rockin' in my opinion. Rant Time! It's been a very long time since I ranted, so here is a new one about the theoretical gameplay mechanics of Wake of Kerberos. Man, classes are kicking my butt right now, in a backwards kinda way. Here's the fifth chapter of Kerberos, along with some other stuff added into previous chapters (especially chapter two). I'm still not pleased with how things are flowing, so it might be worthwhile to just read the new chapter and wait until Friday to reread the previous chapters. In other news, school starts tomorrow, (!) so Friday's update might be a bit late or a bit early. We'll see. Changing things up today. The next chapter of Kerberos isn't coming along quite as well as I'd like, and there are some revisions I'd like to make to the current chapters as well, so instead I'm putting up a rock band tshirt mockup. Good times. In other news, exhaustion kicking in. Predictably, here's the fourth chapter of Kerberos. I decided that since I've fleshed the story out this far, I should go ahead and do some content reorganization, so Kerberos has it's own little index now and subnavigation panel. Good times. In other news, if you're in the High Country, you should go watch The Fall at Dragonfly (our local theater/pub). It was really, really good, which took me by surprise. Well, technically it's not noon yet, but close enough. Here's the third chapter of Kerberos, hope you guys like it. It's been a very writing-y summer, hasn't it? I suppose that it's likely because I spend so much time at work playing around in flash and photoshop that I'm ready to do other stuff when I work on the website.
