I read the Bartimeaus trilogy this week inbetween jobs around the property. Very engaging, strong characters and endings. I highly recommend the books.
The schedule page has been revised to show my rough schedule for the next three months. I'll be working with Patrick to overlay this schedule with the old crowd's schedules so we can get together for another trip.

Sorry this took so long to get up- I didn't even turn my computer on yesterday, and I was busy all this morning. Now it's raining, so I get a reprieve.
Injury report for today: I chopped off half my left thumnail when splitting wood. Not quite as painful as dropping a log on my ankle the other day, but it's a grating kinda pain. I'm really glad my fingernails grow so fast, I've too covered up with bandaids now and it makes it hard to type.
Today's bit of art falls squarely in the digital section, and is a concept for an idea I've had rolling around. Would you like to know more?
So gang, yesterday was the current site's half birthday, so as a sort-of celebration I've made a ton of additions and changes.
First we have a new piece of Digital Art that was intended for education: the Plant Cell flash animation! Yes, I am finally uploading flashes onto this site.
After that, I have added useful and interesting information to each art page regarding the image on that page (note: not actually all that useful and definately not interesting). Many of the images have recieved new tweaks in photoshop, which resulted in a filesize growth that I had to ward away with Jpeg-ness. While I was rooting around in those areas I added a few lines of code to the navigation system to make it a bit more all-purpose (I added a "return to index" link).
On top of that, I have finally gotten around to adding more links to the Links page, and not webcomics this time! I've also written several new Glossary entries, so the world of Yggdrasil has gotten a lot depth-y-er recently. And finally, I finished that rant I've been working on for the past week.
It's been a fun 6 months, here's to many more ones just like them, or better!

Been working on the next rant- still not done. Been working on making a blog system- still not working at all. Been working on odd jobs around the property the 'rents have been assigning me- I have cut up my fingers something awful.
So not the happiest of campers right now, but at the same time, getting to spend so much time outside is making me cheerful. It's weird. Every time I try to type with my right ring finger my bandages hit 3 keys instead of 1, but I am oddly OK with this. (it doesn't hurt, which is definately a plus)
So today's update is a simple photoshop job. I wanted to play around a bit with Joos' face, so here are the results after some cleaning.
The very observant among you will also notice that some of the images are, well... a tiny bit different. I had to go through a lot of the images making up the look of the site and edit them so they don't have an alpha channel any more. The reason is that IE is stupid and doesn't know what an alpha channel is, so everything that had one looked weird, so I've done my best to edit the images in question to have whatever color they should be on top of rather than using transparencies. :'( I weep for the stupidity of it all.
I've written a lot of the next rant these past two days, but its not quite done, so instead I'm just putting up a reference page I've slapped together. This way I can look up HTML stuff right here on my own page! It's called Special Characters and it's nifty.
In other site news, I read some webcomic reviews and blog entries on another site and found that it left a foul taste in my mind's eye (if that makes sense). So to avoid making such annoyances to other people, the Reviews section has become the Overviews section. Similar, but less snooty. Also, the ratings have been removed from the links page.

Jobhunting today. Blergh. Somehow the very idea of jobhunting is extremely adverse to my brain.
In good news, I've made a silly little photoshop that a few people should rofl at. Check it.
I've been working on a Sauerbraten map recently. It's fun, but I'm thinking that I should also make a set of 2D tiles for Project LRNJ while I'm feeling so productive.

I'm all moved back into the familial household, and my old comrades should be arriving soon. 4drn is back home too, which makes me sad, I'm gonna miss her :(
Today's update mostly consists of my equivalent of a cop-out: I'm Fine is about as quick a Photoshop job as I ever do. Sorry, but I'm feeling kind of slack right now.
I hope nothing breaks on this site during the summer, because I don't think my host is being maintained. Hmm, this could be a problem.

Current Media: Tasty Like Fruits
Whew, done with school until August. The last 48 hours have been hell, but now I'm free... to find a job.
As you guys may have noticed, I've been uploading on MWF for the last two weeks-ish, and it's a system I'm gonna try to stick to for the rest of the summer. I really enjoy updating this often, but deliberately not finishing till midnight is a pain. Hmm.
Today's update is a piece of "finished" art that I made to counterpoint Colder than Ice, called Misinformation. I'm not too fond of this piece, which is why I haven't uploaded it yet, but I figured I should get it up here sooner or later.
Last bit of news, I added a snip of code to make the comments of the art a consistent width. It doesn't look too hot in my opinion, but one of my pet peeves in web design is when archives have a "next" button that moves on me. I'm too lazy to move my mouse.

Nurr Cardcaptor Sakura has taken over my life. Why did I have to get into it in the middle of exams???
So, just a light update today- a new digital image called Sauer Emblem. Between CCS and my three exams today and tomorrow, and then having to move out the next day, I doubt the next update will be too big either. Oh well...
But in the meantime, take a look at the History page and marvel at how much has happened this month. That's a lotta additions to this site, bringing us up to 75 pages and 6 support files.

Current Media: Card Captor Sakura
The chibi page is fully functional now- information should be randomly rotating now, allowing me to haphazardly remind my readers of stuff. I've also finished converting the site navigation over to Javascript- this site now has 5 Javascripts which make it work, which is a pretty massive change from where we were a month ago!
But today's main items of interest are; a new piece of digital art, Dark Arts, the first 8 Transcriptions of Little Tentus, and a Glossary for the comic as well. I may try to get Dark Arts printed at cafepress or something, if people like it.
As usual, an invisible part of the site has changed as well- I realized I'd made a stupid oversite concerning my CSS, and I fixed it. So now the background image is referenced through the CSS and not the HTML. It's stupid little errors like that remind me that I'm a novice and my site still has problems.
Newsposts like this also remind me that my most productive times are when I should be working on something other than the site, like my finals. =P See you guys later!

That rant I mentioned last time is up, Rant 7- The Magic System. It's a very long rant, but it should be interesting to any RPGer or fantasy enthusiast out there.
I've added the informative little page to the left... affectionately called the the chibi page. It'll sit on just the first and second level pages the same way that the background did back in the day, before I applied to all the pages. (look at the Map if that didn't make sense).
Also for the technically inclined, I've changed the way that the sign to the left works (it's now an external javascript), and the way the navigation between the art works (the little sign with "Back" and "Next" is also an external Javascript). Can you tell I've just found my sea legs with Javascript? :)

Current Media: Rollercoaster
The site has gotten a ton of bugfixes recently- with a few unavoidable excentions, Tidy is extremly happy with my website, all 70 pages of it (not counting extrenal javascripts). :)
Today we also have a new image in the Digital section, another edit for Chu's caption activities (as such, it has a very boring name).
Last item of note, the next rant is pretty much written, expect it Wednesday!

Current Media: Fans of my computer
Did some general additions and edits these last couple of days- an extra 200k of images have been spread out over 7 pages, in chunks no larger than 28k at a time. (ha, numbers in your face! en garde!)
Did some very informative reading recently. With a bit of playing around, I should be able to get a little feature up and going that I've been looking at since the last site design, from before December 2006. Unfortunately, my reading also made me a bit self-conscious about aspects of the current design... it's like someone just told you that you've been in the wrong class all semester.
Last thing, the Links, Questions, and Writings have gotten some love. Nashaii and I have done some work together to bring you a retelling of a D&D adventure, named Obsidian Key.

Having some troubles with myself at the moment, but I think I'm getting fixed. School will be over in two weeks anyhow, so I'm just trying to keep my stress down.
New sketch up, this time something a bit historical: Greek Runners. This might be the last sketch for a few weeks, I feel like I should be giving the other sections some more love.
I have already given the History Section a bit of love- the first 25 newsposts have their own page. Now we have a basic system to keep the history page from getting too terribly long.

Current Media: Snow Patrol
Snowing right now. 'Tis sad. To counteract my sadness, a new sketch up, "Brrd?". Is cute and and all.
This weekend John helped me tremendously by devising a way to run scripts on my pages, automating a site-wide change. Every page now uses the Javascript at the bottom of the page, and after a few tries, we managed to make the cell backgrounds use style= rather than background=. The result is that this very page has 0 errors (a very impressive feat for a page as graphical as this).
In truly unfortunate news, Virginia Tech has suffered the worst shooting in any campus history. I have a friend who goes there, and I hope he's OK.

Current Media: Dark Cloud (PS2 game)
Wehh, I'm gonna have to edit all my pages again. This is getting seriously old.
What's happened is this. I was doing some research on getting a little feature implemented, something similar to pimping our art across the site, when I figured out a way to fix a problem that's been bugging me for months. I now know how to change a single document and have it affect some text on every page. But I'm hesistant to use this method, because it means becoming reliant on Javascript, something I've avoided so far. Bleh.
Opinions?
Good news is, I've added a new sketch, entitled Nurr, and I'm mostly past being sick (did anyone get that reference? "Slippery Elm medley"?)

Current Media: Slippery Elm medley
As promised, the Onodrim Calendar is finally finished and making sense. It required several hours of research, which I foolishly did not anticipate, but the results are fun. Now I can mess with people's heads!
In other good news, I am working with Nashaii to get his first bit of writing up. What he's shown me has been good, so now it's just a matter of getting it perfect.
I've been thinking about integrating a blogging component into this site- would anyone be interested in that? If I do start a blog, I might try using EBlogger, because it uses Google accounts, and I <3 my Google.
Finally, I have added a new piece of art, "Go Ahead", which is definately one of my favorites ever.

So much to say... well, for starters, every page has been edited again, as you can instantly tell by looking at the sign to the left. "Stuff" has been replaced with "History", and "History"s old spot has been taken by "Comic".
Yes, I'm finally getting off my butt and setting up the comic. There isn't much yet, sorry. I still have 3 weeks of school, so don't expect comic pages to start showing up any time soon. I have managed to put together a rough Cast page.
Part of getting said cast page up involved digitalizing a new sketch, so the sketches have a new piece, titled Sad Tentus.
Also new to the site is a mini navigation interface that will sit in the border of any page that doesn't have the full sign to the left. Bland, but useful. While I was at it, I did some sprucing up of the sketches index- you probably can't tell, but I think the difference is nice.
Finally, some bad news- the calendar rant still isn't done. Woe is me, it got shuffled off to the side- I promise it will be done by Friday.

Well, looks like I am updating this weekend, with both a sketch and a site update.
Yesterday John helped me figure out why my favicon wasn't working (silly ASU hosting), and we fixed it. Which means, of course, that I had to go through every single one of my pages and fix them. So all of them now say they were last edited either today or yesterday. Also, I've added a string of calendars to the history page, which might mystify some of you. Don't worry, they'll be properly explained soon (in the meantime, ignore the link on the histroy page which says I have written an explaination- it lies!)
By the way, the sketch is one that I promised a month or so ago. But he's cute, so it's ok.

Current Media: Princess Mononoke
This week is special in that my girlfriend, 4drn, will start having stuff hosted here! For the next several days we're going to be collaborating to get a new pic up each day until we run out of pics. Here' the first one.
It is important to note that any comment by 4drn will appear in this color, to make her easy to distinguish. Once I con Nashaii into putting content up here, we'll probably have him speak in some crazy color too.
While we're talking site design, due to my recent anime splurge (gotta gear up for Animazement), I've changed "Current Music" to "Current Media". Now I can list movies, music, video games, or whatever. Mwa ha ha. I've also bumped the minimum page size up to 976 pixels (don't ask), so the smaller images have a consistent page width.

New sketch up, a silly one about a tiny faun. Sketch section hasn't gotten much lovin' recently. I tried to color it, but the results were terrible, so I took it back to grayscale.
School has been busy, lots of tests and projects and sturph. But this weekend (meaning thursday on) I'm going camping with my friend Patrick, which should be a good break. I'm pumped, but it does mean no update this weekend, and probably not one monday. Sorry, to make up for it I added "Out There" to the Links section and redid the Girly banner.
Oh, and what do you all think of the little icon up instead of the usual "KR" symbol? I made it as a half-joke, for Eisenstern, and I felt like giving it some airtime. Don't worry, it won't be up there long.

But I have made the cool little (big?) background you've probably noticed. I haven't decided 100% whether I'm gonna keep it or not, so it's only been added to the main pages- sub pages such as sketches, rants, and digital works are still rune less. Ironically, the image itself is a digital work, so it has it's own page.
This may be the beginning of a nordic/celtic stint... I've been using norse mythology in the drafts for my webcomic, and I've got a celtic project coming up in a class.

Added a bunch of banners to the "Edits" section of the digital section (hmm, that just doesn't flow very well). They've been made for a strip called Questionable Content, a favorite of mine, and you can see them all on one page right here.
Other than that, I'm back home in my dorm, I've replaced my video card (and it seems to be helping), and I got a good night's sleep for the first time this week. I feel good.

Current Media: Cross Country CD
I made a digital art a bit ago, and here it is online, Trombonist. It's silly.
I've also added navigation images to all the sketch pages, but not to the digital pages yet. That'll happen later, it's a very tedious process. Hope you all like the system I've decided on.
In other news, spring break is upon me, so the site might not get updated angain any time soon. We'll see what I can do.

Added a set of images to the newsposts that show what day of the week they were posted on. Fun stuff, makes the site a little more accessable, in my opinion. I've applied it to the whole History page, and I've done some cleaning in there too, I've been negligent.
I've also added, as you may have noticed, a splash page. The reasons are several: it gives a teeny bit of buffer against this page, so that this page will load faster when people enter it. It also allows me to move that intro from above the newspost to the splash page. Finally, it gives people a better idea of what they're entering, because they don't get distracted by the news.
Oh, and it saves me work when archiving news into the History page :)
One other thing, there have been a few image changes around the site... let me know if anything isn't working. I had to update every single page this time around, which can lend itself to error very quickly.

My eye got worse, so I went to Health Services. They said I had an infected gland, and gave me some stuff to put under my eyelid 3 times daily. The eyelid is largely swollen, but it only cover 1/2 of my pupil, so I can still see ok, if a bit wonky.
On the other hand, I've had my hands full trying not to catch what my girlfriend has... and I'm pretty sure I failed. I haven't thrown up yet, but its been close several times this morning- right now I'm running off sheer force of will. I can barely stand up I'm so exhausted.
Because of all this, today's update is a bit feeble. It's a raw sketch of Otis, no cleaning. Here it is.

I've got a paper due Thursday that I can't understand for the life of me. The prompt is total impenetrable. After I turn my paper in (and collapse into sweet sweet nothing for a few hours afterwards), I intend to reinstall windows on my secondary HD.
Why? you might ask. Well, in a nutshell, Windows XP is broke. Real broke. So broke I can't get my printer/scanner reinstalled (or any printer for that matter). So once my mini-hell runs its course, I'll do my best to get my scanner working again so I can share the preliminary sketches for the character of Tentus!
In other news, I've added one of the Caption Activities to the Digital section, and changed the layout of said section just enough to keep things organized.

Current Media: Apocalyptica
I've added a new sketch, and begun writing the premises for a new webcomic approach. I've come to the unpleasant realization that the webcomic I want to make is beyond my abilities. It's something I'd love to do, but it's not something I can actually make.
However, I can (and hopefully will, this time around) make a webcomic that I can enjoy. It won't be epic, it won't be touching (well, depends on what touches you), and it won't be artistically stunning, but it should be fun, it should be cute, and it should get my arse in gear.(Which is our second rant, w00t!)
While I'm gearing this all up, I plan on updating the website at least twice a week from now on, with something worth viewing in either artwork or writings, if not both. I'm also planning on getting some alien content up, and by that I mean rants and stuff by my girlfriend. That's why these newsposts have my name attached- I've been planning on getting some outside content all along.
Finally for this newspost, I have added name tags to the History page, so old newsposts can be referenced and linked to in one swoop. Cool, huh? No? Oh well, the feature is there.

Yesterday my older brother showed me the proper way to use CSS, and I've gone through every page on the website and brought them all up to date with my cool new stylesheet document. He also shared a program he'd written for obfuscating email against bots, but not humans.

I've been productive recently. Not only do we have two new images in the Digital Works area, but we also have a new area in the Writings section of the site, for full size rants. Admittedly, the first rant is a bit geeky and to most people, uninteresting, but it's a start.
Some rewordage has also been going on around the site, just to make things work better. Finally, the images for the beach trip are now being drawn from Facebook (yeah, yeah, I know), because they were taking up 10/17ths of my webspace. Bleh. So they're smaller now, and hosted elsewhere. w00t!

New area in artwork, Digital Works. This holds but one image, but that's ok for now.
I've also added a Site Map, under the Questions section of the site. It's not linked up yet, but it still works.
Oh, and I'm trying to get verified with Google, so I'll be searchable. Amazing how this stuff works. (Edit: I'm verified, but still reading up on the other stuff.)

My host died on me while I was uploading the new stuff on Thursday (and by died I mean just stopped working). That's why the beach pages did't have any images on them. Makes me a little bit frustrated, among other things. The issue was that i ran out of space (a whopping 2.87 megs), but an upgrade to about 17 megs has it fixed.
So we're up and going again though, and I've made two new colored sketches in the meantime. I've also done some retro-photoshopping, to make small improvements to the existing images. And I've also done some cleaning in the inner workings of the pages. Oh, and I've changed the contact page a bit. And updated the webcomics list. Was I bored and frusterated?
You have NO idea...

I've uploaded two new sketches for your viewing pleasure, Malhoof and Snailmole. Both have significant photoshopping, and I like how they came out.
Even more exciting, I've uploaded a photo gallery featuring our Beach Trip last year- it's three pages of cool pictures and fun comments.
Oh, and I've upgraded the History page to include additions to the "Artwork" section. Finally, I've made a small change to all the sketch pages that makes them a tiny bit easier to read, in my opinion.

Current Media: World of Warcraft: The Barrens
It's been a few days, but I haven't made any progress on that chapter like I had hoped. So instead, I've put up two images which can be used as backgrounds in the sketch section. They're nothing spectacular, but I like them. There have been some small additions elsewhere in the site as well.
Last Tuesday I installed World of Warcraft and made myself a little mage, and have been playing with half a dozen other people in my hall. It's quite fun, so I may do some WoW art later on. Or I'll just let it eat my time away.

In site updates, I'm gonna do some things to make Tidy happier. I've redone a lot of really small stuff (order of the tags in the credits, for example), and I'm hoping to find some ways to streamline things even more.

I'm thinking about changing the format of my webcomic to 3D. If I model all the characters and environments in, say, UnrealEd, I would overcome my inability to draw and simultaneously practicing my strong suit- 3D design. It's a very appealing idea to me.
There's also the added possible bonus of actually making the characters into useable models at some point- I must admit, the idea of fragging myself is extremely tempting. Does that make me strange?

I have cleaned up a bug on all the pages and begun archiving Newsposts. Yay history!
Also, on all pages except this one there is one or more links at the top of the page- this is the "Navlinks" feature, which tells you where you are in the site (it becomes handier as the site grows), and also links to other related sites. It's an idea I've stolen from ZeldaLegends, because it's completely indispensable from that site.

Hey gang. New website is way simplified and definately streamlined. The old site was just not working for me.
I hope that this new layout will help me to keep myself in check... we'll see. This one is certainly more artsy than the old one.
The newspost system will be enjoying a series of reworkings over the next several posts, as I decide what I like and don't like. Expect stuff to come and go.
